Routine testing after birth and at age 4-6 years of age or if you still have concerns about your child's responses to sound parental/caregiver/teacher concern regarding hearing, speech-language and/or developmental delay repeated or constant ear infections some other clues for impaired hearing like;  uses "what?" or "huh?" frequently has difficulty understanding speech in group activities has difficulty hearing the TV when others find it a comfortable loudness
